WHAT: Local attorneys and law students are volunteering to assist qualified participants in E-FILING their federal and state tax returns at our Tax Preparation Assistance Clinic using TurboTax Online.
PRICE: FREE to qualified participants! Taxpayers not meeting the eligibility requirements below may qualify for assistance for as little as $25.95.
WHEN: Saturdays, January 23 through March 6, 2010, 9:00 a.m. – Noon. Appointments are recommended but not required. (Call 601.608.0056 for an appointment.)
WHERE: Mission First Legal Aid Office, 275 Roseneath Street (located on the corner of First Avenue and Roseneath Street in West Jackson)
WHY: E-FILE allows you to receive your refund faster than paper returns. We will assist you in filing your return using our computers at Mission First Legal Aid Office.
WHO: Anyone who has an Adjusted Gross Income of less than $31,000 or qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
- Earned Income Tax Credit means that earned income is less than:
> $40,295 [$45,295 married filing jointly] with two or more qualifying children
> $35,463 [$40,463 married filing jointly] with one qualifying child
> $13,440 [$18,440 married filing jointly] with no qualifying children.
- Taxpayers who receive K-1’s, 1099-Misc, earnings from sale of stock, clergy income, or earnings from self-employment will not qualify for our assistance.
