"Through my experience at Mission First, I have seen the best of both worlds. I have mentored today’s youth, while also receiving mentorship from inspiring leaders like Coach Bridges. His inspiration is one of the primary reasons that led to me completing my Masters Degree in Sports Science with a concentration in Sports Management as well as completing my Ph.D. in Education Administration. Additionally, I am also proud to be an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at my alma mater, Jackson State University. My life experiences support advocating for the importance of mentorship. I am thankful for my relationship with Coach Bridges as well as with the Mission First Family."

We love the driving force behind Mission First. The people of the West Park neighborhood cried out for help, desiring safety for their children and families. People in the community, law enforcement, and churches gathered around them to help reverse the violent crime in the neighborhood. Mission First was born...a safe haven in the middle of the community. The children's program is called OASIS, which is fitting. We bring our Texas Youth Group to Mission First every summer because the people have our hearts. This year will be our 13th year, and we have seen so much transformation take place. We work outside in the mornings, typically on houses and yards and gardens, and we put on a VBS for the kids in the afternoons. We look forward to it all year!

"I am a product of the Neighborhood Christian Center of Mission First. I can truly say that for several years of my childhood, this summer camp program served as a place of spiritual development, academic enrichment, and life lessons. Neighborhood Christian Center gave me the grounds to steward my gift and be bold in my calling. I am now a senior Music Education Major at JSU as well as a motivational speaker. I was the 2018-2019 head drum major for the Jackson State University Marching Band, and I am an active member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc. I’ve been able to achieve many things and I am grateful to NCC for all the love and development provided over the years."
